One-line definition
A hotwife is a married woman who, with her husband’s encouragement, has encounters with other men.
Full definition
Hotwifing and cuckolding share a triangle but tell different stories. Cuckolding narrates the husband, humiliated and displaced; hotwifing narrates the wife, desired, celebrated, and often proudly shown off. The husband’s role runs from watcher to arranger to enthusiastic publicist, and the wife typically leads: negotiating the arrangements, choosing the encounters, and sharing them afterwards.

- vs. Cuckold. The same dynamic with the opposite narrative centre: his humiliation against her desirability.
- vs. open marriage. Open marriages run both ways; hotwifing is usually one-directional, with only the wife taking outside encounters.
- vs. Swinging. Swingers swap together; the hotwife operates with the husband as audience or facilitator rather than co-participant.
