One-line definition
A slave is the deeply committed submissive in an M/s dynamic, granting broad, long-term authority over daily life.
Full definition
A slave voluntarily hands most life decisions to a Master or Mistress, a deeper grant than a typical sub’s, often 24/7 and covering everyday matters. Community convention writes “slave” in lowercase as a ritual marker of position. None of this suspends the fundamentals: a slave always retains hard limits, safewords, and the right to walk away. M/s is a negotiated relationship between equal adults; it has nothing to do with historical slavery, though the community continues to discuss the term’s sensitivity.
Boundaries with related terms
- vs. submissive. A sub’s grant is usually situational and time-boxed; a slave’s covers most of life, long-term.
- vs. Paypig. A paypig expresses submission primarily through financial tribute; a slave through comprehensive service and authority transfer.
- vs. Pet. A pet is an animal role in pet play; a slave is a human role. Different vocabularies entirely.
Common misconceptions
”A slave has no rights.”
A slave always keeps hard limits, the safeword, and the exit. The grant is wide, not absolute.
”It’s connected to actual slavery.”
It is a ritualised role title in a consensual adult arrangement, not a historical or political position.
”Slaves are downtrodden people.”
Most hold ordinary jobs; some are executives, professors, lawyers. The role is a private-sphere choice.
