One-line definition

Pet play is a kink category where participants interact through animal roles, postures, or care-and-training rules.

Full definition

The heart of pet play varies by player: for some it is playfulness and headspace (simply being a puppy for an hour), for others care and belonging, training and obedience, or deep role immersion. Common forms include puppy play, kitten play, and pony play, each with its own community flavour: puppy culture tends to be social and energetic, kitten play more independent and aesthetic, pony play formal and training-oriented.

It does not necessarily involve sex, and it does not necessarily involve humiliation; what an animal role means is defined by the person wearing it.
